Brand Blog- JOHNNY WAS by Mallory Owens

BRAND BLOG: Johnny Was

Here at CHIC, there is one thing we don’t mess around about. And that, my friends, is quality. When it comes to silks, we bring you nothing but the best (and not to mention, most fashionable).  Johnny Was (was) created by Eli Levite, who refers to the brand as his “innovative brainchild.” Why ‘Johnny Was’? Levite named the brand after the infectious Bob Marley lyric, “Johnny Was a good man…” So Cool!!

As it goes, JW has more than one collection of clothing. The first, of course, being the Johnny Was collection designed by Biya Ramar. She says she is inspired by traveling the world and experiencing many different cultures. If you have ever seen anything from the Johnny Was collection, this is beautifully obvious. Her prints are so magnificently detailed, it is like you are wearing a piece of artwork. Even the tags are extraordinary!

The other Johnny Was collection that we carry in our sweet little store is called 4Love&Liberty. This side of JW is much sweeter and a bit sexier, but still bohemian and chic. When shopping 4Love&Liberty, you get a bit of a vintage vibe as well. It’s so amazing to see how the designer, Christy Whitley, can mix all of these elements into one garment and create such beautiful pieces.

There is no doubt that Johnny Was has put a spin on the fashion industry like no other brand has, and at CHIC, we feel that it can almost define us perfectly. Relaxed, confident, and fun.

Level 99 is a very popular brand, worn by many of your favorite celebs including style icon, Sarah Jessica Parker. The style queen can be frequently seen roaming the streets of New York City sporting her Levels. So much so that the company designed a pair and named them after her

The company is always coming out with trendy new styles and colors… different cuts and flares. We could go on and on about this amazing jean all day long, but we’ll keep it plain and simple. This denim is ah-maze

It's a Mu Mu World By- Mallory Owens

Ladies of CHIC; if you have hung out with us at all, we have most definitely slipped the label above in your dressing room and shared our obsession many a time over the past two years. Show Me Your Mumu is a line of clothing that we have carried with us since the very beginning; and in a sense, Mumu has grown with us. We have been absolutely thrilled to watch this brand grow into the household name it has become, all the while creating more and more Mumuheads {pause – Mumuhead: not only someone who wears mumu, it is someone who sees the world through Mumu colored glasses…} in our beloved corner of the world, CHIC Boutique in Northwest Arkansas.

Mu is designed and founded by two friends: Cammy Hebert and Cologne Schmidt. They founded the brand in 2010, both quitting their jobs in top NYC showrooms and moving to Los Angeles to pursue their dream. {Aren’t we glad they did?!} The ladies said that their mission in designing these pieces were to create flowy clothes that still flatter a woman’s shape. They began just creating pieces that were one size fits all, then ventured out into more fun and complex things, such as crop tops, top slips, chiffon pants, comfy tees, maxi dresses, the list goes on and on! The possibilities of Mumu are endless and we know the ladies have more up their sleeve…. We can expect a lot more from these girls very soon; they simply can’t be stopped!

Made in America, and according to their website, “Not only are the mumus Americans, they are made in Gorgeous California.. Just like avocados and Jelly Bellys.” It is such a contemporary line of clothing and stands for everything fun and laid back in life. When wearing Mumu, one feels like nothing can ever go wrong.

We, the CHIC team, are so proud to call ourselves S E R I O U S Mumuheads from the beginning. We have loved watching this brand grow into what it is and what it will become.

Until next time, ladies…
